The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and called for a moment of silent meditation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Board Member Clarence Triche.

REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY: Superintendent / Designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY RANGE: $80,004 - $83,090
SUPERVISES: All school-assigned personnel
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position can be summarized into three priority areas: Proactive/Preventative Engagement, Responsive Restorative Practices, and Restorative Practices Training. The restorative practices will play a significant role in reinforcing our district’s culture and values through a restorative lens. To assist the high school principals in providing educational leadership in relation to the coordinating and implementation of policies and procedures of the School Board and directives of the Superintendent in the Restorative Practice Program. Facilitate the planning, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of a Restorative Practice program. For individuals with a disability, hiring decisions will be based on the individual's ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.0 RESTORATIVE PRACTICES PROGRAM VISION
1.1 A highly motivated energetic educator who is a visionary leader with a clear, concise understanding of Restorative Justice practice and its implementation within the alternative setting.
a) Spokesperson for the philosophy of Restorative Practice through modeling and messaging all aspects of the practices: teaching, monitoring and reviewing effective proactive/preventative restorative practices in accordance with district policy and regulations
b) Facilitate the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of all Restorative Practice -related instruction, activities and events, including expanding restorative practices/justice related partnerships within the state and nationally.
c) Collaborate with the principal, assistant principals, instructional team, and teachers to plan, organize, and promote interdisciplinary PBIS activities and expanded learning opportunities through the integration of successful strategies and multiple technologies.
d) Collaborate with principals and counselors to transition students back to home school.
e) Keeps program goals present for staff and various stakeholders by referencing them in all meetings and planning sessions.
f) Actively engages stakeholders in the programs’ vision for achievement.
g) Shares specific ways families and stakeholders can support student learning.
h) Aligns resources: time, human, and when appropriate, fiscal to create and uphold systems that support the programs’ learning goals.
i) Ensures that staff has necessary materials, supplies, and equipment.
j) Gather and organize measurable assessment data to inform a variety of stakeholders of trends regarding the school climate as a means of communicating about the effectiveness of the restorative practices work being accomplished in the school buildings.
2.0 RESTORTATIVE PRACTICES PROGRAM
2.1 Responsive Restorative Practices:
a) Facilitate and oversee mediations, circles, and other appropriate processes in response to conflict: Among students; Between staff and students; Among staff
b) Develop and manage a system to respond to incidents on campus, incorporating staff and student voice and involvement
c) Collaborate with Director of Students for appropriate community interventions
d) Manage student restoration plans and contracts
e) Design and implement a variety of creative proactive and responsive interventions, which could include any of the following: restorative circles, mediations, community meetings, weekly group sessions, somatics / embodied leadership practices, solo time, brief wilderness experience, restorative group programming, community service or art, etc
f) Track social and behavioral incidents to identify patterns and inform interventions
2.1 Facilitates collaboration between teams of teachers.
a) Facilitates effective and frequent collaboration between teams of teachers to improve implementation of best practices and reviewing student learning data for instructional effectiveness and alignment to the tier I curriculum.
b) Maintains conditions for collaboration of teachers.
2.2 Provides opportunities for restorative practices related professional growth.
a) Improves teacher effectiveness by providing opportunities for professional growth and support.
b) Uses data gathered through observations and student assessments to determine what supports best meet needs of each individual teacher to improve overall teacher effectiveness.
2.3 Creates and upholds systems which result in a safe and orderly school environment.
a) Ensures learning environment is conducive to learning.
b) Implements systems to ensure physical and social emotional safety is maintained for students and adults.
c) Develops clear expectations for student and adult behaviors based on school values and beliefs.
d) Develops systems to ensure that every adult understands their role in implementing both positive and negative consequences consistently implemented.
e) Supervises equipment management and maintenance and ensure the physical environment is safe.
3.0 RESTORATIVE PRACTICES PROGRAM INSTRUCTION
3.1 Coordinates the development and enhancement of restorative practices curricula for instructional programs.
a) Ensures that restorative practices activities provide authentic, problem-based curriculum experiences, and address and support district and school-wide goals and priorities.
b) Provides instructional support to teachers using best practices and research-based instructional methods related to restorative practices.
c) Provide ongoing restorative practice professional development to staff, and administrators.
· Facilitate debriefing sessions for teachers and students for the purpose of expanding understanding,
· Provide follow-up sessions to ensure program effectiveness.
· Use peace circles to build a sense of community
3.2 Observes teachers and provides feedback on instruction regularly.
a) Support teachers and inside the classroom through observation, coaching, and modeling of restorative practices.
b) Ensures observations occur multiple times a year with staff getting regular, consistent, and actionable feedback.
c) Ensures that new and/or developing teachers receive additional formative observations.
d) Completes a rigorous evaluation process based on a review of teacher practice and multiple measures of student outcomes.
3.3 Ensures teachers use assessments reflective of rigorous state standards.
a) Support the selection of assessments and tier I curricular materials aligned to that analyzes student performance on assessments.
b) Regularly assess instructional practices and student outcomes via benchmark assessments.
c) Coordinates the collection of data to measure impact of the overall Restorative Practices Program.
4.0 SUCCESS ACADEMY PROGRAM INSTRUCTION
4.1 Ensures the local process of placing students in the Success Academy Program
a) Ensures selected students meet the selection requirement determined by SJBP: classified as 8th grader and will be at least 15 years old by December 30th of the year they enter the program.
b) Monitors and track students’ eligibility requirements: Age, Number of years academically behind, LEAP 2025 data, and final approval of the Success Academy Principal and/or District Staff.
c) Ensures students are earning high school credits/ Carnegie units.
d) Administers and ensures all students participate in 8th grade State-wide assessments and any other required district assessments.
MISCELLANEOUS
1. Assists with the recruiting, selecting, and assigning of appropriate personnel for the effective delivery of the school program.
2. Functions as the Officially Designated Representative of the school system at IEP meetings.
3. Functions as the Officially Designated Representative of the program at district level meetings
4. Serves as a model of professionalism and communicates educational values.
5. Utilizes clear and grammatically correct oral and written expressions.
6. Seeks input from parents and the community as to how the quality of education can be improved.
7. Involves parents and the community in the activities of the school to build a sense of shared responsibility for the quality of education being provided.
8. Encourage the volunteer participation of parents and the community and uses this resource to enhance the quality of education in the schools.
9. Follows the rules and regulations of the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board.
10. Notifies supervisor promptly in case of absence and communicates in advance the date of return so that proper provisions can be made.
11. Attends work regularly and arrives punctually.
12. Displays proper respect for superiors.
13. Observes professional lines of communication at all times with individuals inside and outside the school system.
14. Develops and implements a professional growth plan.
15. Serves as an acceptable role model for students, demonstrates personal and intellectual honesty and respects the rights of others.
16. Makes use of constructive criticism and avoids use of sarcasm, undue criticism, inappropriate language and behavior, and use of racial and/or ethnic slurs when with others.
17. Train district employees with restorative justice and implementing of school- or community-wide restorative practices.
18. Train district employees with conflict resolution approaches.
19. Assist with developing and implementing behavior plans, interventions, and contracts.
20. Accepts other duties as may be assigned which are related to the scope of the job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
A certified administrator serving is required to: 1) work in an office typesetting, climate-controlled environment adhering to school board energy policy and in outside areas which are subject to climate extremes; 2) may sometimes work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by job responsibilities.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
A certified administrator serving must: 1) communicate in grammatically correct English both orally and in writing. This must be commensurate with the age and skill of the listener; 2) have ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system; 3) communicate successfully and pleasantly with the public; 4) accurately compile and access data, summarize information and provide written reports to supervisor; 5) represent school system at all various public functions.
EQUIPMENT
A certified administrator must be able to use the telephone, typewriter, micro-computer, facsimile machine, calculator, copy machine, printers, intercom, public address system, security alarm system, and other appropriate office machines.
PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT
A certified administrator must be able to: 1) sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor student behavior in all facets of the school environment as required during the work day; 2) operate office equipment; 3) reach, bend, and/or lift 10-50 pounds is sometimes required as well as the physical restraint of another person or persons; 4) provide own transportation to school(s), work locations and meeting sites; 5) have mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
MENTAL INVOLVEMENT
A certified administrator must: 1) understand and interpret written and verbal instruction from supervisor and must be cognizant of policies and procedures governing discipline and student services in St. John Parish Public School System and their implementation; and 2) comply with federal, state and parish regulations.
HUMAN RELATIONS INVOLVEMENT
A certified administrator must: 1) be able to work compatibly in group settings; 2) serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and community; 3) be able to respond positively to supervision and to accept suggestions for improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A certified administrator must possess: 1) Master's Degree with Secondary School Principalship/Elementary School Principalship certification in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education Bulletin 746, Revised; 2) Knowledge of current trends in restorative practices, including pedagogy, performance-based standards and assessments.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1) Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university; 2) A minimum of three years as a school administrator; (3) Training in Restorative Practices or Restorative Justice Circle.

SCOPE OF REPSONSIBILITIES: CURRICULUM FACILITATORS/COORDINATORS – To supervise curriculum and instructional programs to facilitate best teaching and learning practices; supervise the development and implementation of curriculum, educational goals, and activities; supervise instruction and benchmark assessments. To provide support to principals and site program administrators.

PERFORMANCE/RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
