ADVERTISING ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board may permit advertising on school property. The principal of the school, with the approval of a school committee established for that purpose, shall be responsible for granting approval to vendors and/or businesses and individuals for advertising on school grounds and/or within school buildings provided:
No students shall be required to sell or be a coercive audience in any area of the school or school grounds for commercial purposes.
No employee of the school may benefit, directly or indirectly, as a result of the advertising.
The school does not provide free access to advertisements on school property.
The school encourages advertisements that support the goals and objectives of the school and the school district.
The school ensures that donated and sponsored materials, signs, and equipment meet the same standards used for the selection and purposes of curriculum materials.
The school requires that sponsor(s) recognition and logos be for identification rather than commercial purpose(s).
Advertising be limited primarily to the athletic fields, gym, and cafeteria areas.
Advertisement messages shall be excluded from individual classroom walls and bulletin boards, corridors, offices, and the library. Prior to authorizing any advertisements on school property, the principal shall present the proposed advertisement to the Superintendent for review and presentation to the Board for approval.
The advertisement message must be appropriate to the age level and maturity of the student served and should promote such values as good health habits, good character traits, sportsmanship, academics, good study-habits, regular school attendance, and the like. Advertisements for drugs, alcohol, tobacco and tobacco products, sexual materials and products and messages of religious persuasion shall be forbidden.
No advertising materials (fliers, pamphlets, etc.) shall be placed on vehicles on school campuses during the school day or during the extracurricular activities such as athletic events.
